Garden Details
The Dorothy Day House of Hospitality serves the homeless and low- to no-income in the Youngstown community. Our garden is located next to the Dorothy Day House and is maintained by a master gardener and a team of volunteers. The produce grown in the garden is used in our evening meal service for the guests of the Dorothy Day House of Hospitality, and we also distirbute any excess to our guests, too.
Garden Practices
Garden Practices
We have some raised beds and a small greenhouse.
We grow a variety of produce, including tomatoes, cucumbers, and strawberries.
The materials for the garden are donated from generous individuals and organizations within our community. We usually have some assistance from community groups with preparing the garden each year, and the garden itself is maintained by volunteers.
