The St. Thomas More Community Garden welcomes all gardeners from the San Diego North County community to grow fruits & vegetables, flowers & trees, friendships, and community. We have 30 individual 4′ x 8′ raised bed garden plots available for individual growing, each with its own water spigot. The garden is surrounded by a variety of fruit trees. We have garden tools for you to borrow in our shed.
The garden is designated as a St. Kateri Garden. Volunteers have created a walking rosary path in the prayer garden space in the garden, which winds through fruit trees.
We are registered with the Monarch (butterfly) Fellowship and Monarch Watch, which means we are a monarch butterfly haven! We grow a lot of milkweed and poppies and other polinator-friendly plants.
Our gardeners are encouraged to use organic growing methods.

25 fruit trees surround 30 growing beds. Volunteers maintain the trees. The garden beds are individually tended.
We are a social ministry group part of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, although all are welcome from the local community.
We hold recycling events each first Saturday of the month to raise funds that support the Garden.
Several times each year we host educational events/presentations by local experts on such topics as Container Gardening, Supporting Butterflies and Other Polinators, Snake Safety in the Garden, Growing Milkweed for Monarch Butterflies.

Critters who want to eat what we grow are our biggest challenge-- mostly squirrels, but also rabbits, wood rats, and field mice.
2025-2026 was our first full growing year for our Community Garden with most of the 30 plots planted.
Last week we held an education event with the UC Master Gardeners presenting and we had over 30 people attend.
