Mission Statement:
The mission of the Lost River Arboretum is the preservation of native wetland (Palustrine) trees and shrubs, as well as other native plants in the region. The 7.4 acre Lost River Arboretum will serve as an educational resource for the community and its grounds will be for contemplation and meditation, where the Community can come together in a spirit of cooperation, fellowship, and shared custodianship of its natural resources.
Descriptions of Aboretum’s Multi-Role Uses
Community Role: The community where to Arboretum is located is a mixed community of different races and economic opportunities. The Dauphin Island Parkway Peninsula After years of declining economic growth due to the Dauphin Island Parkway no longer serving as the main thoroughfare to Dauphin Island and south Mobile County coastal communities when Interstate 10 and the Port were put in. The City of Mobile under plan to be revitalized after the decision. Affiliation with the
School Role: Workshops and Classes will be held on: Native Wetland Plants, Medicinal Plants, Gardening, Permaculture Design, Food Preparation/Preservation, Culinary Histories of the Region, and other related topics. The Lost River Arboretum will be made available to grammar school and high school groups in the community for educators to instruct students on relevant nature topics. Jeremiah Woolsey is a Certified Permaculture Design, having completed his PDC at Oregon State in 200x (See Certificate), a Master Gardener and is certified in Urban Forestry by the Alabama Urban Forestry Association (AUFA).
Place of Worship: Modeled after Cornerstone Gardens contemplation.

Faith-based institutions in the community within 2 miles will be given access (see list) for outdoor activities and will be open to all religious institutions and denominations in the area. Indeed the focus will be on Interfaith and Ecumenical dialogue.
Other: In addition to the abovementioned, it is intended that the Arboretum serves as a music venue, hosting house concerts similar to those at The Frog Pond at Blue Moon Farms in Baldwin County, the adjacent county. See: https://thefrogpondatbluemoonfarm.com/
Additionally, Performing Arts events such as theater, dance, and standup comedy, are expected to be held at the site.
